Online assessment platform

Every mark, earned.

The answer key never reaches a candidate's phone. The clock is ours, not theirs. Everyone sits the same frozen paper. So every score you read traces back to the answers that earned it.

Free during early access. No card needed.

What it is

Papernibble is an assessment platform.

Write the questions, give the assessment online or on paper, and read marks you can stand behind. One place for every assessment you run:

Fair by design

A score is only worth what stands behind it.

Six things Papernibble does on every online assessment, so a mark holds up when a student, a parent or a manager asks how it was reached.

  • The answer key stays with us

Questions go to the candidate's phone; the right answers never do. There is nothing to find in the page.

  • Our clock, not theirs

Time is counted from our server. Setting a phone's clock back buys nobody a single minute.

  • One frozen paper

Publishing freezes a version. Fix a typo later and it becomes version 2; everyone who sat version 1 is marked against version 1.

  • One person, one attempt

Open the assessment on a second device and the first stops saving. Once someone has started, their roll number will not get anyone else in.

  • A different order for each person

Switch on shuffling and the person beside them sees the questions and options in another order.

  • Every mark traces back

Scores are worked out from the answers each time you look. Change one mark and the total, the rank and the class average follow.

Forms lose answers. Assessment sites make everyone sign up. Marking eats the evening.

Papernibble is the simple part in the middle: bring your questions, and it runs the assessment and marks it.

Bring your own questions

Your questions. Your assessment.

Write your own questions, generate them elsewhere, or bring your existing question bank. Papernibble handles the assessment.

Sharing

One link. One assessment.

Share a single link with your students or candidates. They open it, enter their details, and start. No account, no password.

Prefer a list? Send each person their own link, or let in only the people you added.

Reliability

Even when the internet isn't perfect.

A student's connection shouldn't decide their marks.

  1. Question 3 of 20

    All answers saved

    Answer saved

Every answer is written to the phone first, then sent.

  2. Question 7 of 20

Offline · 4 answers kept on this phone

    Connection interrupted

They keep answering. Even a reload keeps everything.

  3. Back online

    All answers saved

    Still safe

Waiting answers go up by themselves, exactly once each.

“Saved” only ever means the server has it. Before that, the screen says how many answers are waiting on the phone.

Results

Marked the moment they submit.

Scores, ranks and a report on every question arrive as people finish. Download them as a spreadsheet whenever you like.

How it works

From questions to results in one afternoon.

  1. Build the assessment

Add or import your questions, preview it as a candidate, and publish.

  2. Share one link

Send the assessment to candidates, and choose when it opens and closes.

  3. Read the results

See scores and every response, marked automatically.

On the candidate's phone

Built for a phone on a patchy connection.

Most people take assessments on a phone, often on mobile data. So each one opens fast and keeps every answer safe until it reaches us.

  • 83 kB to open. It starts quickly on a slow network.
  • A fair clock. Time comes from our server, not the phone.
  • No account. Open the link, type a name, begin.

Questions, answered

What happens if someone's internet goes off during the assessment?

They keep answering. Every answer is saved on their phone straight away and sent when the connection returns. Even reloading the page with no internet keeps their answers.

Do candidates need an account?

No. They open the link you send and type their name, with a roll number or email if you only let people on your list in.

Can I use my own questions?

Yes, that is the whole idea. Write them in Papernibble, paste in ones you made elsewhere, or import your existing bank. Your whole team shares one question bank.

Can I import questions from Excel?

Yes: questions, sections and lists of people. Download the template, fill it in, and check what was read before anything is added.

Can I give assessments on paper as well?

Yes. Type in each answer sheet and it is marked and reported exactly like an online attempt. Answer sheets never use credits.

What types of questions can I ask?

Single or multiple choice, a number (with a tolerance, so 9.8 and 9.81 can both count), and short text. Short answers are matched against the answers you accept; one that matches none of them waits for you to mark it. Negative marking if you want it.

Can multiple candidates take the same assessment?

Yes. Give it to whole groups or share one public link; everyone gets their own attempt, marked on its own. We have tested 1,000 people submitting answers at the same time.

Can colleagues work on the same assessment?

Yes. Invite them as admins, members or viewers and everyone works on the same assessments and question bank, with changes merged as you go.

Can anyone see the right answers during the assessment?

No. The answer key stays on our server and is never sent to a candidate's phone. Afterwards, you decide whether they see the right answers.
